Lake Braies circular trail

Difficulty: easy Length: 3.6 km Duration: 1:00 h Altitude meters: 39 hm
Exploring the "pearl among the Dolomite lakes" on foot

The starting point is the Hotel Lake Braies, from where the tour begins along the left bank. Right at the beginning, on a jetty, there is a boat rental. A romantic canoe trip across the emerald-green Lake Braies promises a special experience. But this pleasure is reserved for others, as the path continues along an inviting hiking trail directly along the lake shore. The path becomes narrower and is criss-crossed by roots as it leads to the narrowest part of the lake, where the Pragser Wildsee reveals itself in all its splendor.

There are always idyllic places to take a break along the shore. The hiking trail moves away from the lake for a short distance, its green hue shimmering through the trees, until you reach a picnic area equipped with benches and tables. Now the most exciting part of the hike begins: the path becomes narrower, hugs a steep rock face and leads high above the lake, offering unique views.

Towards the southern end, the path follows a few hairpin bends back down to the lake level, and the beaches on the southern shore are reached, where there is also a toilet available. After passing the beaches, the path widens again. From the western shore, there is a view of the path opposite, which winds its way under the rocks. On the way back, past a chapel, you return to the Hotel Lake Braies, where there are again numerous opportunities for a rest.
